The boys’ basketball team has had an exciting 2011 season. The start of the season was one that showed strength, progress, and determination. The boys overcame many obstacles and challenging teams. Two of the most thrilling contests were against Manheim Central and Garden Spot. These two games were huge wins for the varsity team and pushed them to the number two spot in the section.

Despite their strong start in the season’s first half, the boys haven’t had equal success in the season’s second half. With only six total wins for the season, any chances of a post-season are gone. Coach Bouchette has commented that the boys are always working hard. However, it seems that no matter what they try in practice, they can’t seem to play a solid game. As fans can see, the boys generally start off strong, but can never fight off a poor quarter or two.

Many players on both the junior varsity and varsity teams are stepping up strong this year. Seniors Ricky Duenas and Tyler Sheffy are two of the three leading scorers for the Vikings. In addition to the seniors, sophomore Patrick Stevens is a major contributor for the team. Stevens is a younger talent for the team whose efforts have been greatly appreciated all around. The combination of Duenas, Sheffy, and Stevens has made our Vikings unstoppable to many opponents. The remainder of the season will be a battle for the boys. With continued spirit and hard work from both teams, big things are sure to result.
